Building up trust – How to halter a young horse

The first steps in handling and training young horses are very important since they build the foundation for all further training and establish the future relationship with the trainer in trust and respect. Most horses in Iceland spend their first years roaming free in big pastures and need to learn to be haltered when training starts. In this video, Arnar Bjarki Sigurðarson (B.Sc. in Riding and Riding instructions and head trainer at Sunnuhvoll) shows how to halter a young horse in a respectful and save manner that helps establishing trust for all further training.
